Jedes Projekt muss dokumentieren. Die Praxis zeigt allerdings, dass die Beteiligten eher unterschiedliche Ansichten zu Inhalt und Qualität haben. Revisionssichere Dokumentationen? Produkthandbücher? Dokumentationsprozesse? Werkzeuge für das Dokumentieren? Die Antworten auf all diese Fragen und Stichworte werden in diesem Vortrag gegeben und lassen sich für zukünftige Vorhaben nutzen.

Testgetriebene Entwicklung ist in vielen Köpfen bereits verankert. Die Praxis hat jedoch gezeigt, dass einige Benefits nicht zu erreichen sind, wenn sich der gesamte Sprachgebrauch auf das Testen reduziert. Behavir Driven Development (BDD) ist die konsequente Weiterentwicklung und fokussiert sich auf Spezifikationen anstatt auf Unittests. Der Vortrag vermittelt die Grundlagen von BDD und zeigt, in Live Demos, wie sich Ruby als dynamische Sprache sehr effizient hierfür einsetzen lässt.

Based on the dynamic lanugage Ruby, Rails is also the killer app for the language. It’s based on “Convention over configuration” and comes with many plugins and generators. Ruby on Rails is completely database independent and provides a full stac MVC based framework for building web applications. This session will demonstrate the most important concepts of Ruby on Rails and gives you many hints for starting your first own project.

Die Integration von Enterprise JavaBeans in eine Rails-Anwendung ist mit JRuby durchaus möglich. Damit können Projekte ihre Web-Frontends mit Ruby on Rails realisieren, während die bisher realisierte Geschäftslogik in Form von Session- und EntityBeans weiterhin auf einem Application-Server liegen kann. Der Vortrag zeigt, was die Konzepte und die konkrete Vorgehensweise ist. Viel Live-Coding verdeutlicht den Teilnehmern schnell, wie mit diesem Ansatz Investitionsschutz betrieben werden kann.
